Repeater Features - EchoLink Repeater Station
The repeater is setup as an EchoLink Repeater Station, which means
we can make and receive calls over the EchoLink network. The EchoLink Project allows amateurs to connect
repeaters, simplex links, and keyboard stations using VOIP, or Voice over IP. Voice over IP is the method
of converting audio signals received by a sound card to a digital packet stream of data. That packet is sent via
the Internet to another computer which converts it back to audio, and plays it through another sound card. By
hooking up repeaters and radios to these computers we are able to talk radio to radio, using the Internet as
the linking mechanism. Of course EchoLink also allows you to use a computer with a microphone, and speakers,
as a keyboard station. All this is accomplished using some unique software available as a free download, from
the EchoLink organization's web page. You must be a licensed amateur to participate, and they do check for this!
The K9WZ repeater is a EchoLink Repeater station, and has been assigned the following station number
1 4 7 8 8 5
